When a family loses a father, the pain is overwhelming. The grief stricken mother suddenly faces the impossible - mourning her husband, raising her children alone while dealing with their heartbreak, and just trying to hold everything together. B’ezri’s Keren Almanos is here so that no almana has to face all those challenges by herself.

Miriam C.’s Story of Strength

With over 850 women in our fund, there are over 850 stories of loss, courage and resilience. One example is Miriam C.
Miriam and her husband had just celebrated the birth and bris of their fifth child. After a short stay at a mother-and-baby home, she returned - ready to settle back into family life. But only a few days later, tragedy struck.

Miriam’s husband wasn’t feeling well and asked her to send the children to friends. He davened mincha at home - something that struck her as especially unusual - and then lay down to rest. Later, just as the kids returned, Miriam discovered that he had stopped breathing. Guided by emergency services over the phone, she and the older children tried desperately to help until Hatzolah arrived, but it was too late.

On what should have been a day of celebration - her oldest son’s ninth birthday - Miriam gathered her children and told them,
“We have to thank Hashem that He gave us such a precious gift for 10 years.” That strength has carried Miriam through the past three years,
inspiring everyone around her.

But even the strongest need support.

That’s where B’ezri steps in.

We help more than 850 almanos from every type of background provide for their families while coping with devastating loss. Each month, the Keren Almanos distributes case-specific stipends to each and every mother, ensuring she can cover essentials. Our coordinators are always just a phone call away - a listening ear for every Almana, whether she needs someone to talk to or help finding a solution to a problem.

So when added expenses come up, we’re there too - replacing broken furniture, helping with the costs of a child’s simcha, covering the fee for an evaluation, during a crisis or providing numerous other necessities. The Keren Almanos also allocates extra assistance during the summer months
when children are home for an extended time.

Extra Help for Holidays

And when holidays approach? B’ezri knows how expensive they get and how deeply a father’s absence is felt. That’s why we provide additional support for Yom Tov - including right now, during the High Holidays (in addition to helping 2,700 needy families, 800 divorced mothers and 3.360 IDF soldiers!) - enabling every Keren Almanos family to celebrate with dignity.

This is the heart of the keren: making sure every Almana has a place to turn. Easing the burden, honoring their strength, and giving their children the security they need are at the core of what we do.
