American Friends of Yad Eliezer now partners with B'ezri
In the midst of the war with Iran, a stressful, challenging and difficult crisis that is causing a nationwide emergency, AFYE/B’ezri continues to be a source of support for Israel’s most vulnerable families - the families who always have a harder time in a crisis. This includes almanos who are struggling not only with painful loss, but with raising their children through fear, trauma, and financial hardship, alone.
Below are profiles of just seven almanos (there are 900 in our Keren Almanos/Almanos Fund) who contacted us within the last few days. Each of them has a different heartbreaking story, yet all share one thing in common: they are doing everything they can to hold their families together. With children stuck at home (school is out and activities are cancelled) due to the constant threat of attacks (and actual attacks), the days are long, stressful, and overwhelming. The emotional toll is heavy and the practical burden is immense.
Thanks to our donors, we’ve been able to send help where it’s needed most to families throughout the country. These seven mothers are among those who received emergency funds, allowing them to buy games and activities that helped ease tension at home and bring moments of calm and joy to their children during long, anxious days. We’re also providing assistance with food, which - as any parent knows - becomes even more essential (and expensive) when children are home 24/7.
Malka B., a mother of three, including a child with special needs, called us in desperation, unable to cope with the fighting and boredom in the house.
Eti M., left with five young children after losing her husband to cancer, is sheltering in a tiny Bnei Brak apartment repeatedly targeted by missiles.
Ora Z., newly widowed, is raising ten children and trying to hold her home together after losing her husband to a sudden illness.
Vered S., widowed after her husband’s tragic battle with lupus, is raising three little girls alone.
Miri C., mother of five in Afula, can't work remotely due to security issues and is struggling to make ends meet.
Miriam K., who recently had her 11th child, has no source of income besides our support.
Feigy A., also a mother of 11, is still reeling after her beloved husband was killed in a freak accident.
These seven are just a few of the thousands of families your donations are helping. Every contribution, which actually is a gift, brings relief, dignity, and optimism to families who need all of those so badly. The knowledge that they can call us when needs arise, and that we will answer - and respond with support - provides them with a sense of security like no other.
Together, we are an Am K’Lavi-strong, united, and caring. And together, we are really making a difference.
