Help us remove difficult choices this winter.
The
inside of a typical Israeli apartment is frigid during the winter
. Leaks in the home are common, with moisture and harmful mold rapidly damaging walls and ceilings. Average Israeli families can manage, though, by turning on the heat, using warm blankets and having repairs made when necessary.
But it’s an entirely different story for
needy Israeli families. Electricity costs are exorbitant. Patching leaks in order to live in a respectable environment is just not in the budget. Neither are good blankets, so countless families will find alternatives to get them through the night, like sleeping under layers of towels to try & keep warm.
And outside? A good winter coat is a huge expense for a poor family, especially one that has multiple children. Some wintry days, children from needy homes can’t venture out at all for lack of a coat, even to go to school.
Parents of these families are constantly faced with impossible choices: keeping the heat on for a few hours a day or buying their children a proper coat or blanket, or giving up on either, in order to buy groceries.
Driven to alleviate their worry and suffering through our Winter Warmth Campaign, as one of the most effective Jewish charity organizations, we began preparing months ago,
ordering high quality coats & blankets at discounted costs so we can bring relief to parents and children in time for the winter cold and rain.
Due to unprecedented need this year we'll be distributing 20,000 boys' and girls' winter coats (at a cost of $22 each) and
5,000 coats for young women and mothers ($28 each). Our distribution also includes
10,000 thick quilts ($15). These items may seem simple, but they're
life altering and bring unbelievable happiness to those so desperately in need.
Please help us help these families, so they won't have to make such difficult choices this year.
Costs are high. So is the demand. We need your support!
