Winter has officially arrived, bringing with it Israel's chilly, rainy weather. And in true Israeli style, as cold as it gets outside, it often gets colder inside the home. Apartments are for the most part poorly insulated, making it difficult and expensive to keep them warm, so thick, quality blankets are essential for a good night's sleep in comfort.
A proper winter quilt may not seem like an extravagant item but that's exactly what it is for families who are struggling just to function - just to have basics in the home, such as food. With the number of households living in poverty on the rise, families will find substitutes for thick blankets (by using clothing, towels, and layers of thin, worn covers) to try and keep warm, in an effort to save money which can then be used for groceries and utilities-the prices of which are expected to rise, yet again, next month.
American Friends of Yad Eliezer | B'ezri, at the top of the Israeli charities list, is ensuring that thousands of needy families can indeed sleep better this winter thanks to our Winter Warmth campaign. In addition to the 20,000+ new winter coats we're providing for needy families, we are also currently distributing 10,000 brand new blankets to families throughout the country-from Tzfat in the north to Arad in the south, and in 37 additional cities and towns in between-with multiple distribution points in some of those locations.
This initiative once again illustrates just how dedicatedly American Friends of Yad Eliezer | B'ezri works to alleviate suffering in the homes of needy Israeli families. Donor tzedaka support is critical-helping us cover costs so we can reach these families, alleviate an expense that will make their winter a bit warmer and give them one less thing to worry about. Please join us - help us bring them the comfort they so badly need.
