Purim’s Coming

And we’re ready to bring profound relief through our Matanot L'Evyonim campaign

Wednesday, March 02, 2022

The number of needy families in Israel has grown substantially over the past year, so with Purim rapidly approaching, at American Friends of Yad Eliezer we are growing our Matanos L’Evyonim campaign to distribute more aid than ever before.

This past year has been such a difficult one, with thousands of households still grappling with unemployment and/or the debts that built up in their homes over months of not working. Others are working but at minimum wage jobs and can’t keep up with bills. Still others are trying to stay afloat but are challenged with overwhelming expenses such as exorbitant costs for urgent medical treatments or vital therapies for family members, the costs of which greatly outweigh their salaries. All are battling the upswing in prices of food and utilities and so many other basics.

American Friends of Yad Eliezer is driven to make Purim the celebratory holiday it should be, for families who are torn in multiple directions, financially. They don’t have the means to make Purim seudas or create any semblance of the holiday - but together we can change that.

This year we are allocating $900,000 to gabbei tzedaka across the country, to distribute to 5,600 struggling families including those of 800 almanos, 180 grushos and thousands of others who can’t make ends meet on a daily basis.

With your donations to our Matanot L’Evyonim campaign we can reach this incredible goal. Your tzedaka will be distributed to families in need on Purim day, so you are yotzei the mitzvah, and will be the reason struggling parents and their children can breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy the chag with a light heart.
