B'ezri Thinks Outside the (Gift) Box for Pesach

Again!

Pesach is full of holiday traditions and in addition to its maos chittim campaigns for needy families, divorced mothers, almanos and
struggling IDF soldiers, American Friends of Yad Eliezer/B'ezri has created another one.

For the second year, we are providing 400 women from struggling homes with 700 NIS gift cards for use at major clothing chains in time for Yom Tov. AFYE/B'ezri understands there's something special about receiving a new item for the chag that enhances it. Whether sitting at the Pesach seder, in shul, or spending time with loved ones, everything feels elevated when you're wearing something fresh and new.

For many, buying new clothes or jewelry for the women in the home is part of the beautiful mitzvah of simchat Yom Tov. However, it is a real challenge for families in need, particularly before Pesach, one of the most expensive times of the year. "New dress" often doesn't make it to the shopping list, especially when there's a week’s worth of matza, wine, and food to purchase, with limited funds available and prices higher than ever.

That's why AFYE/B'ezri is thinking outside the (gift) box - again. Mothers often look after their families' needs first and put their own aside. But thanks to this project, the recipients can treat themselves to something special—a new outfit or jewelry that will truly enhance their Yom Tov. By using a gift card to make their purchase, no one knows the funds were given to them by a tzedaka organization-saving recipients any embarrassment.
