Help us remove difficult choices this winter.
The weather is cooling. Winter is arriving. Our order of 23,6oo coats is on the way, and we need your support.
Israel's winters are bitterly cold. And inside most apartments, temperatures are typically frigid, with leaks and moisture common throughout the home. Families with means can turn on the heat, use warm blankets and make needed repairs. For struggling families though, basic comforts like these are unaffordable. Heating, home repairs and good-quality quilts are all out of reach, leaving families suffering through cold nights under worn or shared blankets.
For outside the home, a good winter coat is a major expense, especially for families with several children. Some kids even stay home from school on particularly cold, rainy days because they simply don't own a coat.
Parents of needy families are faced with difficult choices during the winter: paying for heat or paying for a repair; replacing a worn blanket or buying groceries; deciding which child gets to wear the family's one good coat.
The ongoing impact of war has only made these pressures harder. High prices for basic necessities, parents still serving in miluim, job losses, trauma and displacement continue to affect families across Israel. The added costs of winter only increases the strain.
Driven to alleviate their suffering through our Winter Warmth Campaign, as one of the most effective Jewish charity organizations, B'ezri ordered over 23,000 high quality coats & blankets last spring, for highly discounted costs, so we can bring relief to parents and children in time for the winter cold and rain.
With so many families in crisis, this year we'll allocate 7,100 girls' coats, 8,900 for boys (at a cost of $21 each) and 7,600 for young women and mothers ($24 each). Our distribution also includes 12,000 thick quilts ($15). These "simple" items are life altering and bring immeasurable happiness to those who need them most. "There is no way to describe the simcha that fills the heart of a child who wears a brand new coat - a warm one that is well made - not a hand me down, or a used one..." (Rivka M., mother of 4, at last year's coat distribution)
Please help us help these families, so they won't have to make such difficult choices this year.
Costs are high. So is the demand. Your support will make a difference!
