Despite War B’ezri Delivers $2.85 Million to Families & IDF Soldiers

Pesach won’t wait, neither will our help

Monday, March 23, 2026

As communities across Israel continue to navigate the uncertainty and disruption brought on by the ongoing war with Iran and Hezbollah, one thing remains unwavering: B’ezri’s commitment to support families in dire need. We are ensuring that despite the most difficult circumstances, families are not left behind.

Among the numerous challenges, realities of war include displacement, increased economic strain, school cancellations, and parents missing work (and income) while children remain at home. As a result, B’ezri’s annual Pesach support initiative in Israel is more critical than ever and continues to move forward at full strength. An extraordinary $2.85 million in vital aid is reaching thousands of vulnerable individuals and families across Israel.

Who we are helping

Essential assistance is going out to 2,100 families including:
600 divorced mothers, most of whom are carrying the full burden of their households alone

Like Bracha N. whose husband suffers from schizophrenia, which was diagnosed recently and was the cause of the divorce. Bracha has six young children to care for, some of whom have medical needs, which add to her numerous expenses. Currently unemployed, she and the children live with very little and every necessity is a challenge to cover.

800 almanot (widows), facing both emotional and financial hardship
Elisheva A. lost her husband earlier this year after a short battle with cancer; he was 52. Baalei teshuva, the A.'s have 11 children. Two are married and one daughter, 20, has severe mental and physical disabilities. The couple cared for her together, but now Elisheva does this alone. After their business collapsed a few years ago, they filed for bankruptcy, losing their apartment when it was seized to pay debts.

2,580 needy IDF soldiers, who continue to serve while struggling for basics
Eli Y., 38, lives in Givat Shmuel with his family. Eli was injured in the back during his combat service and hasn’t been able to work, since. He is facing tremendous financial challenges and cannot pay household bills without his income.

At a time when so much feels uncertain, one thing remains constant: B’ezri’s practical financial relief, giving families the ability to make Yom Tov with dignity.

How we do it

B’ezri has developed systems over the years that ensure support reaches families in Israel quickly, efficiently, and respectfully, even despite large scale challenges. During the pandemic, after the Meron tragedy and throughout the Swords of Iron war, we swiftly provided aid to tens of thousands of families in all corners of the country.

Our assistance is delivered in various ways including direct bank transfers to almanot, supermarket gift cards to IDF soldiers (via commanders we have relationships with throughout Israel), and funds distributed via trusted gabbei tzedaka (volunteer community coordinators) embedded within communities countrywide.

And now, amid another war with Iran but in time for Pesach, our streamlined, time-efficient approach allows critical aid to once again reach needy families, widows, and soldiers without delay, regardless of location or circumstance.
Volunteers and staff work tirelessly under challenging conditions to ensure that our Pesach support in Israel continues without interruption, reaching families in major cities down to small communities.

We don't stop, despite crisis

In times of crisis, it is easy for the most vulnerable to be overlooked. But B’ezri’s message is clear: we will not stop. Even amid chaos, even amid uncertainty - support will continue.
As Yom Tov quickly approaches, tens of thousands of families will be able to sit down at their Seder tables with a renewed sense of security thanks to our donors and collective efforts in chesed, efficiency, and responsibility.
