Bringing Simchat Purim to Thousands

Purim is just days away and B'ezri is working non-stop to ensure thousands of families will have Simchat Purim in their homes thanks to our Matanot L'evyonim campaign. This year's distribution, reaching 800 almanos (with children still at home) and 4,000 families in over 50 locations throughout the country, will provide vital financial assistance to help them celebrate with all their holiday necessities-among them,
a dignified Purim seuda.

For B'ezri recipients, this is much more than financial aid. It's the difference between anxiety and relief. Embarrassment and festivity. Dignity in the knowledge that they are fulfilling the mitzvos of the chag like their friends and neighbors.

A Costume That Changed Everything

Last year, we shared the moving story of Meirav Z., an almana from Holon, left alone to raise seven young children after her husband's long battle with cancer. She faces numerous challenges. But she contacted us shortly before last Purim, to let us know that the stipend she received allowed her to buy a beautiful kallah (bride) costume for one of her daughters, who rarely spoke.

Meirav described the impact of that purchase: “When my daughter arrived at school in that beautiful bride costume, the whole school was in awe. And she actually made some friends.”

Meirav’s other children were equally excited over their costumes and happily counted down the days to Purim-a welcome boost to their morale after all they had been through.

B'ezri's Keren Almanos coordinator, Sara, explained that while Meirav usually relies on the B'ezri monthly stipend for very basic staples, the additional Purim support allowed her to give her children something extra for Purim - something that strengthened their self-esteem and brought genuine joy. Sara notes that "These moments have a lasting impact far beyond the holiday itself."

“Before I Even had a Chance to Ask”

Another more recent story comes from Yonit F., a divorced mother, who describes how she worried about how to pay for Purim necessities for her family. "I checked my bank account to see if/how I would be able to get some money for Purim, for my matanot l'evyonim and to cover some of the expenses. I was shocked - and needless to say, extremely grateful! - when I saw the deposit from B'ezri" she says. "It was a form of 'טרם אקרא ואני אענה' - you knew of my situation and you helped me before I even had a chance to ask."

For families like Meirav’s, Yonit's and thousands of others - B'ezri’s support is a powerful tool that provides optimism, stability and peace of mind.

And thanks to donor generosity, we can replicate moments like these in thousands of homes again and again this year.
Especially high costs of living are just one challenge needy families are struggling with. Basics like food, utilities, school fees, clothes - every need is a hurdle to overcome, not to mention holiday expenses. By donating to our Matanot L'evyonim campaign you will help us get parents and children across Israel the support they need so they can have a feeling of Simchat Purim in their homes.
