High Holiday Help that Really Makes a Difference

$3.5 million in aid is reaching over 7,700 households

The A. family’s middle son is battling leukemia. Both parents spend their days shuttling him to treatments several times a week, leaving no time for work. Debts are piling up, and a household that was already struggling is now overwhelmed.

Sara K. suffers from a kidney condition and urgently needs a transplant. She and her husband are doing their best to raise their three children, but with Sara too sick to work and her husband caring for her and the kids, their only income is a small unemployment stipend. The bills are endless, the debts unmanageable, and every month is a desperate scramble to get by.

Naomi F., an aguna with six children, struggles with a husband who refuses to give her a get or pay child support. She carries crushing expenses: an autistic child’s treatments, a son’s rehab program, yeshiva tuition, therapies, and hefty legal fees are just some of them. Even basic needs are out of reach-she recently couldn’t afford 200 shekels to fix a broken window in her home. Despite seeking work, she hasn’t been successful in her job hunt. Naomi is truly at a loss and urgently needs help.

These are not isolated stories. They reflect the painful reality for thousands of families across Israel who are facing the High Holidays and new year with anxiety instead of optimism. Holiday prep is on hold while parents lie awake at night worrying, wondering how they will manage to get through such a challenging time.
