American Friends of Yad Eliezer now partners with B'ezri
Summer is usually considered "wedding season", but this winter is proving to be a tough competitor-it's been one of the busiest we've witnessed, with hundreds of families appealing to us for support for their simchas. Thankfully American Friends of Yad Eliezer/B'ezri's Adopt A Wedding program has ensured that 450 families are able to celebrate, this month alone.
We are seeing significant impacts of the war on households, countrywide. Costs of living have jumped, with prices for basics making it harder and harder to pay bills and provide for necessities in the home. The numbers of people in need of therapy and counseling are higher (an estimated three million Israelis are suffering from mental health issues), impacting household budgets as well. People are still battling unemployment and business closures as a result of the war, trying to hold everything together on decreased incomes. These and other challenges make it increasingly difficult for families to remain stable, let alone pay for a respectable simcha, with its numerous expenses.
That's where we come in. As an Israeli charity that works to safeguard families' long term well-being, our Adopt A Wedding program makes it possible for families to hold a dignified wedding now, and avoid the need to take out loans to pay for necessities-loans that will trap them in debt for years to come.
We've made 450 weddings this month and we're anticipating the numbers are not going to slow down any time soon. Help AFYE/B'ezri ensure families can stand under the chuppah with dignity, relief and a more stable future.
