American Friends of Yad Eliezer now partners with B'ezri
When the donation came in just a couple of weeks ago, our staff in the American Friends of Yad Eliezer office was blown away.
We saw the generous tzedaka amount.
We read the beautiful reason for the donation.
And then, we read the age of the donor: just 8 years old!
Yechiel Weinberg of Far Rockaway was inspired.
He had learned of a problem in Israel - that there were families who were so needy they couldn't afford to buy baby formula for their newborns. And he knew that the lack of sufficient, proper formula could have terrible effects on their health.
So Yechiel decided to do something about it. He decided to collect tzedaka.
Yechiel's family was very familiar with American Friends of Yad Eliezer. They knew that we're a Jerusalem charity which helps families in numerous ways, throughout the country. The Weinbergs had sent support for our Adopt a Wedding program and our Keren Eliyahu V'Esther Feed-A-Baby program in the past so at the outset, Yechiel knew his tzedaka's exact destination. And over Purim, he collected more than $200, which he earmarked for our Feed A Baby program, knowing he could have a hand in helping needy families purchase baby formula, so their infants will be healthfully fed.
After speaking with Yechiel's family, I learned that he also had an additional inspiration for his chesed initiative. His meaningful project was also in the zechus of his sister, that she should be zoche to have a baby very soon!
Stories like these never cease to amaze us.
Thank you Yechiel, we're sure this is just the start of your chesed journey.
You are a true inspiration!
