Yad Eliezer is blessed to have countless supporters behind us, donors who give generously, allowing us to bring relief to thousands of Israeli citizens in need, every single day. Food boxes and vouchers during the week and for Shabbos and holidays, new winter coat & blanket distributionbar mitzvah and wedding funds (yes, even now!), help for single mothersCorona aidkids' mentoring, job training and so many additional types of assistance are provided to struggling individuals and families through our programs.

Our ability to run these programs, distributing help to those who truly live in dire straits, is not something we ever take for granted. The people behind the scenes are not only our staff members who are so dedicated and driven to help as many people as possible, but also, of course, the kindest donors who make it all happen.

Contributions in every denomination and for any and every reason come in on a daily basis, online:

"...In memory of my grandmother Sarah, I miss her every day" - $200
"...In honor of our children, we are so proud of them!" - $1,000
"...This is my birthday chesed gift, I hope it helps lots of needy soldiers" - $38
"...Thank you for all the good work you do" - $3

You see how varied they are in amount, but we see each one, bigger or smaller, as invaluable, putting them all to use in the most efficient, thorough way possible. True to our word, 96% of every donation goes straight to recipients, ensuring that if you want to donate to Israel and its families, Yad Eliezer is the way to go.

Those are examples of some of our web donations but others come in, believe it or not, the old fashioned way. Thousands of donors happily drop coins into the outstretched tzedaka boxes of Yad Eliezer volunteers who knock at doors of homes throughout Israel during the week. You may picture a few shekels here and there and wonder, how much can that really add up to?

Here's the answer:

This is what 50,000 NIS (the equivalent of just over $14,000) looks like in simple shekel coins, collected over the last few days.
Sure, each one (10 agurot, 50 agurot, 1 shekel, 2 shekel, 10 shekel) is, by itself, a small amount, but together this will go so far and do so much good. It's inspiring that even now, when people are having a harder time than ever due to the health crisis and all its challenges, they are still happy to help in any way they can.

So keep this photo in mind the next time you consider making a donation. Bigger or smaller, every contribution to Yad Eliezer adds up and - really - makes a difference.
