New appliances for an orphan bride bring incredible relief
Mazal tov, the engagement has been set!
A woman's wedding is often something she thinks about and dreams of for years. As the wedding date approaches, there are so many details that need to be taken care of, and the bride counts on her mother and and father to help her get ready. It should be one of the happiest times in her life.
But when an impoverished bride has lost one - or both - of her parents, the happiness is bittersweet. Missing parents won't be there to help her prepare. They won't be there to accompany her down the aisle or dance with her at the wedding. She will be on her own as she gets adjusted after her big day and as she tries to set up her new home - something which is doubly hard without any kind of parental support - emotional or financial.
Our Keren Yehudit Fund was established to help orphan brides in need by supplying them with brand new basic appliances, enabling them to set up their homes. This includes a refrigerator, oven, washing machine and choice of microwave or food processor. Like other new brides, recipients get to choose the color of their appliances, too. The Keren Yehudit fund brings practical help in building a new home, but it also provides brides with a sense of normalcy and dignity, helping the new couple get excited about starting their married life together, ready to go - just like typical newlyweds.
The pain caused by the loss of a parent never disappears completely. But with your donation, we can try to ease it and enhance a bride's joy by stepping to help when there is no parent to do so.
