Back to School Campaign
Remember that exciting feeling of going school supply shopping, as a kid? Eagerly walking up and down the store aisles with a parent, choosing new pencils and pens, colored notebooks and folders...There was nothing like it. And though the summer was ending, the experience helped make the first day of school something to look forward to.
American Friends of Yad Eliezer has the opportunity to provide that same kind of positive experience for kids from poor families. New school supplies may seem like simple items, but having them--or not having them--significantly affects the emotional well-being of a needy child. When kids watch their peers happily unload brand new backpacks full of crisp, clean notebooks and sharp pencils while they unpack used, hand-me-down school supplies from a worn bag, their self esteem plummets as their embarrassment soars. Their education suffers as well. Without proper supplies, kids aren’t prepared and don’t complete assignments, causing them to feel isolated and ashamed as their grades and skills steadily decline.
You can prevent this from happening by contributing to
American Friends of Yad Eliezer’s Back to School Campaign. Working with the Chanan stationery and office supply chain, we’ve purchased store gift cards at a 15% discount, which are being distributed to needy households so parents and kids can shop for brand new school supplies, with dignity.
The assistance makes a tremendous difference. It relieves one of the heavy burdens struggling parents are shouldering, and empowers children to walk into the classroom on their first day, not only physically prepared - but emotionally, too-with feelings of motivation and pride.
Join us as we bring this critical relief to countless families in time for the school year!
