Help us bring enjoyment, through relief, back to summer.
The phrase “summer vacation” conjures up images of the shining sun, ice cream, family trips, laughter and smiling faces...
There's a stark difference though, between those happy images and reality for thousands of impoverished families in Israel.
Single parent homes, families dealing with unemployment, medical or therapy costs, displaced families and parents facing diverse war-related issues...so many households in stressful situations are just scraping to get by.
For them, summertime is no vacation.
Parents can’t afford summer programs or childcare, preventing them from working. Without income, there are no groceries for a houseful of children or a paid electric bill to keep the air conditioning (or fans if the a/c is non existent) and other necessities running.
Without structure & the safe framework of school, kids are at greater risk of turning to the streets. Needy children are also at risk of the "summer slide"- falling behind in reading and math skills, a widespread phenomenon prevalent in impoverished homes.
Summer in poverty is a season of standstill, malnutrition and vulnerability-making it a season of instability and crisis. As one of the biggest Jewish charities that help the poor, American Friends of Yad Eliezer|B'ezri works to combat this through our Summer Relief Campaign. You can help, too.
Your donations to this program are crucial-they'll help keep children enrolled in programs and properly fed. They'll keep the electricity connected and homes functional during the long summer break, giving families that are in desperate need, a bit of a break, too.
Please help us continue to keep families safe and stable!
"Ashreichem, Yisrael! You've provided such happiness. This is truly a huge help for families who feel 'strangled' during summer break-a time of year that's even harder than Yom Tov..." - Gabbai Tzedaka
Help a bar mitzvah boy from a needy family celebrate his special milestone, with sponsorship of tefillin or a bar mitzvah package. Twinning with your loved one's bar mitzvah is a beautiful and meaningful way to commemorate your simcha.
We break the cycle of poverty by enabling individuals and families to become self-sufficient, giving them the skills they need to become productive in a trade or profession.
Costs of dairy prices in Israel are higher than ever. Help poor families in time for Shavuot and they'll be able to have traditional foods on their Yom Tov tables.
Impoverished families are often unable to buy groceries to feed their families. "Groceries" doesn't mean extras. Sometimes it means even the most basic items like bread and milk.
